Bridget Cama is one of two creators of the Uluru Youth Network that runs alongside the Uluru Statement group.
The Uluru Youth Network is a collective group of young First Nations peoples who support the Uluru Statement from the Heart and a First Nations Voice to Parliament.
This was the creation of Bridget who aimed to create a body of young activists fighting for a ‘Voice’ within their nation.
On the importance of the network, Bridget said to the National Indigenous Times ‘Our young people are really integral to this movement and we see things differently, we have different perspectives and different lived experiences and we’re really passionate and energised about it because we want to see some positive change in our lifetime’.
In her mission, Cama has the ability to connect and communicate with younger generation Australians around First Nations injustice and fight for sovereignty.
On discussing the Voice to Parliament, Bridget told Charles Sturt University, that it is ‘consistent with International Human Rights Law’ and shouldn’t be ‘feared’.
[We do have unfinished business in our nation, and to get to a point where we can be a truly inclusive Australia we need to do something about that and that Uluru Statement provides a way forward]. [INSERT GRAB].
In her fight for the Uluru Statement of the Heart to be implemented, she said that she could not see The Voice impeding First Nations sovereignty.
