On the Multicultural Voices Against the Voice
…
While the Voice directly impacts all Australians, there are minor communities within our nation that believe their opinions are being overlooked within the debate.
Jamal Daoud is the organiser of the Multicultural Voices Against the Voice group, who created the group as a platform for immigrants of Australia to speak their opinion on the Voice.

In the creation of the group, Daoud told CSU that he moved to oppose the Yes Campaign’s ability to ‘ignore’ the minor communities and what they have to say on the outcome.
Daoud believes that within the Yes campaign, a racial tone towards multicultural groups is subtly enforced that if they ‘are not on board, they aren’t grateful’.
Jamal has described that when asked about his views in opposing the Voice, he is met with astonished faces believing that he doesn’t have the right to say no.
This comes after May 2023, when over 110 migrants and cultural communities united in their support for the Voice. Jamal ultimately understands why people see ‘good’ in the Voice.
However, his doubt remains that the Voice and a constitutional change will not unite the country but further divide it.
He is also pushing for change within his own community, calling for a Voice in Parliament for the multicultural people of Australia.
